Just me tinkering. I’ve been eying off this building off for months and finally I got the right light and opportunity to shoot it.
I’ve just been really attracted to this building as its a little old school and its surrounded by lots of new buildings.

I really have no idea at all why this boat intrigues me so much but it does. I guess she just strikes me as being a really hardworking and honest boat that has worked hard and is now lazing around the Canning River just soaking up the sun. As I mentionined to Mark the other day, I find work boats so much more interesting than pleasure boats. Her name is Zulu and I think she might be an old RAAF work boat but I’m not 100% sure.
In all honesty I think if I knew who owned Zulu I’d probably take her off their hands, that is how much I like her. If you’re the owner and reading the blog let me know.
I’ve only seen her move once in the whole time that she has been on the Canning River which is a shame. I do believe there is another one like her in Freshwater Bay.

You know the more complicated life gets the less we remember to stop and look at the really simple things in life. Often the simple things are the things that bring us the most pleasure. A child’s laugh, a hug from our loved ones, watching a sunrise and sunset can often be much more rewarding than driving around in the latest car or living in the biggest house.
I set out on Saturday morning with a massive panoramic shot in mind but due to the fog and haze from fire I couldn’t get it. I was about to go home without a shot when I started to take a really good close look at the plants and then I saw all these water droplets on them. I was mesmerised and spent the next 2hrs shooting them. This is the very mechanics of life. The plants absorbing CO2 for us and of course we all need water. I walked away a much happier and calmer person on Saturday after spending some time enjoying the simple things in life.

Hi Everyone!
I just love this photo. I was walking to work on Saturday and of course I had my camera with me, I was trying to get a few urban landscape shots. Anyhow as always is the case I had my eyes on the street and had walked up and down the street twice getting shots of doors and steps before I looked up and saw this. I guess the time of day was just right. It really does show though that whenever you can you should always carry your camera with you because you just don’t know where your next shot is going to come from.

Well it looks like everyone here is writing about Summer and how much they miss it and how close it now is, so I’d thought I’d post another photo of Cottesloe Beach. This is another shot taken in summer, again it was a really warm night and after taking this shot I put my stuff into the car and then jumped into the water myself. Its so relaxing being in the water late evening or night time, one of my favourite times to dive is at night. Anyhow back to the main story, hurry up Summer and bring on some wicked sunsets.

How shocking has the weather been of late? Its been hard to try and get out and about to get any decent photos in this weather! This photo was taken last summer, it was a beautiful evening, there were lots of people strolling up and down the beach, with quite a number of people also still swimming. Just think only a few more months and we’ll be back to that lifestyle again. Woo Hoo! There is nothing like taking seascape photos on a warm summer’s evening down at the beach.

Hi Everyone,
On Friday evening I thought I’d take a quick trip up into the hills to see if any of the waterfalls had started to run after all the rainfall we had. I decided to head up to Hovea Falls as they were the easiest to get to. I’m happy to say that yes there was some water flow but I think they need another couple of weeks of rain before they really start to flow at their maximum. So back to being patient again, I think August is the best month for waterfalls in Perth. What do you guys think? Perhaps we should all head down south and find some decent waterfalls in the meantime. 🙂

Hi Everyone,
I decided to take my new 16-35mm F2.8 lens out for a test run here on our fair beaches of Perth. I knew the sunset wasn’t going to be a firey sunset and it was raining but I just knew I had to get down to the beach and try and capture a seascape with my new lens even though I didn’t have a filter adapter ring for it. I got lucky and the moment I parked the car the rain stopped and held off and decided to be nice to me, in fact the rain held off until quite literally I had hopped back into the car, you can’t time it much better than that. I think the photo turned out really well considering I didn’t have a filter available. 🙂 This lens was sharp as a tack and I can’t wait to go inland and capture some great country and waterfall landscapes once the fields start turning green and once the waterfalls starting hammering down.
I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank James Knight-Smith who has been helping me out with some issues that I’ve been having, he is an absolute creative genius. Thanks James!!!

Has anyone else been out and about? I’m guessing with all the really nice sunsets and sunrises over the past few weeks most of you would’ve.

Hi Everyone,
Last Saturday I managed to get out and about and capture this great seascape photo. I was annoyed that I had to stay in Perth for the long weekend and wasn’t able to go away, I was planning on going down to Dunsborough or Yallinup to capture more landscapes. After seeing this unfold before me I was stoked that I didn’t go down south after all. It was fantastic light that just seemed to stay around for ages and amazingly the ocean was so still that I was able to stand right on the edge of the reef without fear of getting my camera wet. Have to be happy with that!!!
Sunday is going to be heaps of fun I’m flying up to the North West Shelf with a VIP and hoping into a helicopter and flying around to a couple of offshore installations so I’m going to be ‘happy snapping’ like crazy, it would be great if I could pull off some awesome aerial shots of us landing on some offshore installations. Fingers crossed.

Hi Crew,
Hope everyone had a great long weekend, those of us who had to stay in Perth were still treated to some awesome sunsets. I figured that since everything was so still that I would head down to the beach and capture some silky smooth water. Capturing seascapes would have to be my favourite as they are so relaxing, you get to listen to the calming waves lapping against the rocks and I always feel recharged after coming home from one of these shoots.
Did anyone else get out and about this weekend and get some great shots?
