Geez I was all set to have a relaxing weekend but with Merv ‘motivating’ me I’ve had to put up another photo. This photo was taken after watching internationally famed seascape artist Larry Mitchell peering into the water, I stood next to him and saw this in front of me. I absolutely loved the water in the shallows it makes a great effect and I was really happy with this photo. I just goes to show you don’t have to hang out with photographers to learn more about photography. The way Larry ‘saw’ water was amazing and I know Christian learnt from him as well.
I’m thinking that I might have to retire to a coral island somewhere and ‘study’ water for the rest of my life. What do you guys think? I’m not sure if I could keep up with the pressures of work of being a seascape photographer on a coral island. 🙂
Keep Dreaming!
Thanks for stopping by everyone,
Jamie Paterson

I dunno Jamie, this tropical island life sounds pretty hard 😉
Great image! I was looking at Larry’s work after you posted the link to his site and it’s unreal. His paintings look like photographs!
Hi Charlene,
Thank you for the comment. His images are unreal and they sell for about $50k a pop. Be nice getting that sort of money for a photograph!
Jamie
The patterns in the water look quite amazing Jamie, well seen. I looked at Larry’s paintings and wow are they out of this world amazing!
As for the tropical island dream, mate the work hours are unbelievable, night and day you’ll be studying water 🙂
Hi Flemming,
Thanks for that. I spent a lot of the time up there looking for patterns in the water and it made we realise just how diverse the water is. When are you off? It must be soon.
Jamie
I like em both Jamie!
I think I like the patterns one a little better on the lower image.
Cheers,
Mark
Hey Mark,
Thanks for that. I like the bottom one for the patterns. But I love the water patterns in this one. Larry Mitchell inspired!
Jamie
two thumbs up & if i had more, i’d put them up too 🙂
the retiring & studying water sounds lovely
Hi Chloe,
Thank you for the great comment. Just got to think of a place to retire to now. Paris perhaps?
Jamie
awesome Jamie- love it up there! 🙂
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for that mate. When was the last time you were up there? I certainly could’ve handled another week camping along Ningaloo Reef.
Jamie
Well done Jamie, nice shots – I have some friends up in Exmouth and will be heading back up there for the 2nd time in summer.
Hi Simon.
Thanks for that mate. Make sure you hop into a light plane and go for a cruise up and down the reef, its amazing. I’ll have some reef photos coming up soon.
Jamie
only been once and that was April last year. spent 5 days in coral bay and Exmouth before heading into Karijini. I’ll be doing it again April next year too 🙂
the snorkeling up that way was amazing!
Hi mate, I like the composition but I think the white balance is out, unless you wanted this warm look in the sand. It was pretty white sand and I think it would look better with that beautiful blue and stark white. Just my thoughts and I know as an artist, now you have been hanging with the likes of Larry and me, you might want this look. Everyone can do what ever they want hey!
You know mate. I should’ve listened to Larry even more. I warmed up the sand because I thought that is what everyone else would want not what I want. I’d be interested in Friday to find out what you learnt from him.
Jamie
Hi again Jamie, I did the light plane thing, was brilliant. On that note, I just got the first copy of my book delivered today of the Exmouth pics, it’s turned out really well. We’ll catch up for a coldie sometime and I’ll show you if you like.
Hi Simon. Great stuff. How you got some wicked pics. Always up for a coldie.
