Hobart Historical Ferries

hobart tasmania australian landscape photography boats ferry

Hello Everyone,

This jetty is just off to the left of Elizabeth St Wharf in Hobart, Tasmania and I saw it on my way back from Salamanca Place.   The ferry itself was really interesting and dare I say cute?   What really got me about this composition though was the cool ferry, the sign saying ‘Captain Fell’s Historical Ferries’ and the tallships in the background.   For me it really summed up what the whole place was about.  Charm, character and history!   I could walk around in Hobart for a couple of weeks just shooting away and not run out of subjects to capture.    If you’ve not seen them yet Mark Stothard is currently posting some great landscape photography shots of Tasmania.  Go and check them out.

Camera Settings:

Aperture – F11

For those of you who are hitting Karijini I hope you have an awesome time and get up there and back safely.  I can’t wait to see the photos when you all get back.

Tasmanian Tallships

Tasmanian Tall Ship Masts

Hi Everyone,

This shot was taken my first night in Hobart.   As I was walking around there was at least four tallships there and they looked awesome in the setting sun.    It was a magical evening, walking around the Hobart docks with these ships was like being in a timewarp.   You could almost imagine the hustle and bustle of Constitution Docks way back then.   I walked around for ages shooting old fishing boats, cray pots and rusty boats.   The other thing that was really cool was that everyone was just so friendly and willing to help.   Thanks Hobart you were a landscape photographers dream!

For those who like to know:

Aperture – F11

ISO 200

Shutter – 1/250sec

Has anyone else been down to Hobart at all?   Anyone got plans to head down there?
