Reflections

seascape photography, port beach, perth

Recently, I saw a series of posts from True North Mark featuring reflections and it inspired me to head out and capture some of my own.  I’ve always liked the way clouds appear on the sand whilst its wet from the waves washing up on it, so I captured them.

Its always fun getting down to the beach and this was no different.  We really are amazingly lucking in Perth to have access to beaches like this.

North Cottesloe Drama

sunset perth beaches seascape photography

Hi Everyone,

Is there anything better than a nice dramatic sunset with the beach to yourself to unwind and reflect on what’s happened throughout the week.  There might be but it certainly didn’t feel like it at the time.

Cable Beach Reflections

broome, seascape photography, australian landscape photography, western australia, sunset

Cable Beach Reflections::  Cable Beach would have to be another firm favourite in places to visit.   It is quite simply amazing to watch the end of the day on this beach.   As the warm tropical sun sets it nearly always throws up a beautiful kaleidoscope of colours each and every evening.

I was lucky enough on this evening to be walking along Cable Beach just relaxing when I saw the water the reflecting the clouds and I had to capture it.  I’m glad that I did and working on it brings back great memories of that evening.

Thanks,

Jamie

Ke’e Beach Sunset Kauai

hawaii, beaches, kauai, na pali coast, seascape photography

This is Ke’e Beach in Kauai.  Its right at the beginning of the Na Pali coast and its divine.   This beach is as far as you can get to by car on the North Shore of Kauai and it really does feel like you’re at the end of the road.  It’s quite, serene and relaxing with everyone just sitting by the foreshore watching the sun setting and contemplating their lives.

Quite a few times after the sun has set I’ve stayed behind and jumped in the water and just floated in the water, soaking up the zero gravity feeling in such an amazing place.  I’m sure I could go here for the rest of my life and never get sick of it.

Do you have a place like that at all?  One that you can keep returning to and never get bored of it?

Thanks,

Jamie

Little Salmon Bay Rottnest

rottnest island, seascape photography, australian landscape photography, ocean

Little Salmon Bay Rottnest::  After spending time with the family all week, it was definitely time to sneak off by myself to get some solitude and quiet time with Mother Nature.

I was really attracted to this spot, Little Salmon Bay because of the bright green patches in the water.  It was like patch work quilt.   I spent about 2hrs in this little bay, shooting away and then it was time to put my camera down and just enjoy the place.

I sat down on the beach and felt the gentle winter sun heating me up.  I then just shut my eyes and listened, really listened to everything that was going on around me.

From the waves lapping at the beach, to the sound the wind made as scurried across the beach.  It was a truly relaxing experience.

Do you ever take time out to just listen to Mother Nature?

Thanks,

Jamie

Little Salmon Bay Rottnest

I just love Rottnest Island, its great in Summer but I believe even better in Winter.  You still get amazing scenes like this but you get it all to yourself.  We Western Australians are so lucky to have a place like Rottnest Island on our doorstep.

As many of you know I’ve been to Hawaii many times, its a stunning a place in this world, however, I easily rate Rottnest much high than Hawaii.  You’ve got easy access to some of the cleanest beaches in the world at Rottnest some of them only minutes outside the settlement.   Want to see all of them in one day?  Then jump on the amazing Bay Seeker bus service.  You can buy a ticket and hop on and off the bus all day at any location you want.  It’s such a great service.

We were also really impressed with the great playgrounds for our kids.  The boys spent hours just playing around in those playgrounds which gave us some quiet time as well.  What more could parents ask for?

If you’re looking for a quick break from it all, you should definitely head on over to Rottnest during Winter.  Its easily one of Perth’s best kept secrets.

Thanks,

Jamie

Roebuck Bay Broome

broome landscape photography, seascape photography, aerial photography, australian landscape photograpny

I love the amazing colours of the water in this shot. You can even see swirls of sand in the water caused by its fast movement.

I’ve been up to Broome a few times now and this is the first time I had to chance to fly into Broome via Roebuck Bay and I was really impressed. You can see miles of beautiful Mangroves and it all looks so healthy. I bet there are a few massive mud crabs hiding in there!

Have you tried capturing photos out of a plane? How did they turn out?

Thanks,

Jamie

Ocean Reflections

gulf of mexico, seascape photography, sunrise, australian landscape photography

It’s rare to get water conditions like this out in the ocean.  Its nearly always rougher than this with the wind, swell and waves always manipulating the surface of it.  So on this particular morning as we were heading out to the Gulf of Mexico channel on a small boat I got pretty excited.

The ocean as you can see was extremely flat and we were getting all these amazing cloud reflections in the water.  I just went snap happy and filled up almost a full card not bad considering we were only out there for three hours!

Have you ever seen the ocean like this?

Thanks,

Jamie

North Cotteloe Sunset

seascape photography, australian landscape photography, perth sunset

Last Friday night I was fortunate enough to catch up with fellow photographers True North Mark, Peta- Anne North and Greg Ratajcak at North Cottesloe Beach. As always the conditions were fantastic.

The sun cast a stunning golden glow over everything and stayed for ages as you can see in the photo. It was such a magical evening.

When was the last time you saw a sunset like this?

Thanks,

Jamie

Hawaii Waters

kauai, north shore, ocean, beaches, seascape photography

This photo was taken on the last day of my last trip to Hawaii, how amazingly clear is the water?   It was a really special day as I’ve been to Hawaii quite a few times but this was only the second time my wife had been there with me and her first trip there with me was almost 10yrs ago.

We spent six days together investigating little bays like this all over the island of Kauai and just jumping into the water whenever we could.  The trip finished all too quickly as they do but we got to see and shoot so much during that time.

I cant wait to get back there again!

Thanks,

Jamie
