Reflections

seascape photography, port beach, perth

Recently, I saw a series of posts from True North Mark featuring reflections and it inspired me to head out and capture some of my own.  I’ve always liked the way clouds appear on the sand whilst its wet from the waves washing up on it, so I captured them.

Its always fun getting down to the beach and this was no different.  We really are amazingly lucking in Perth to have access to beaches like this.

Passing Front

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’re all having a fantastic Easter.  I decided to head out and about to the beach to see what was going on down there.

Well as could be expected it was windy, and the waves were thumping onto the beach with fury.  I love this sort of weather for photography, it can be so dramatic.

I can’t believe the guy in the water was swimming.  Crazy especially since he was within meters of a rip.   I hung around until he got out of the water………. just in case he got into trouble.

Has anyone done anything exciting this Easter so far?

Thanks,

Jamie Paterson

Port Beach Sunset

port beach, sunset, seascape photography

Hi Everyone,

Hope you’ve all had a great weekend so far.  This is a shot that I managed to get whilst out shooting with Mark last week.  It was such an intense and magical sunset, in fact probably the best I’ve seen in a long time.

It was one of those sorts of sunsets where I actually stopped shooting for a few minutes so that I could just take time out and enjoy it.   One the way home Mark and I stopped off and tried out another location that promises to provide us with a couple of great photos, unfortunately the light wasn’t right on the night but stayed tuned.  I’m sure either Mark or I will return there soon to have another crack at it shortly.

Thanks for stopping by guys,

Jamie Pateson

True North Mark At Work

Hi Everyone,

As you have probably figured out by now Marky Mark and I headed out on Wednesday evening for a shoot and we picked a really great night to head out.  The colours were simply amazing and we were like two kids in a candy store!

Anyway this is just a warm up photo of Mark taking a photo of the amazing sunset.  He’s a little blurred but that is only because you can’t get him to sit still for more than one second.  Now, off to work on the real photos.

Port Beach Splash

port beach australian wave surf photography photographer fremantle

Hi Everyone,
I srpung out of bed at 7:30am (instead of 5am like I was supposed to!) and decided to head down to the beach to have a dip and grab a few wave photos.  I’m so glad I did, it was beautiful.   Melissa and Xavier chilled out in the sand whilst I got some pretty cool shots as the waves were breaking onto the beach.   Its a shame that winter is fast approaching, there is nothing like waking up in the morning and heading off down to the beach.    Hope you guys are all enjoying the weekend so far.

Thanks for stopping by and checking my blog out,

Jamie Paterson

Going Over The Falls

wave surf photographer photography underwater housing

Hi Everyone,

This is a self portrait of me just before I got sucked up by the wave and got thrown around like I was in a tumble dryer.   I really have a lot more respect for in water wave and surf photographers after experiencing what they have to go through.   I’m only swimming in small waves and surf, how do the guys in Hawaii do it?    Anyhow if some of you are wondering what I look like, here I am.   Though the lens has quite obviously distorted my face in all the wrong places.

Hope you guys have a good laugh at this photo.

Rippled Waves at Port Beach

Hi Everyone,

Well this is my first attempt at something a little different so hopefully you’ll be kind to me.   I’ve been memorised by wave photographs for years and I’ve finally taken the step and gone out and got myself an underwater housing.   I’ve been out twice this week and its so much fun, though I must admit I’ve been thrown around heaps in the surf and ended up with lots of scrapes from the sand.

Its just so refreshing to dive into the water and have a play around for an hour or so and then hop out and watch the sunset before heading home.     Clint Baker is also having a crack at this sort of photography as well so head over to his site to check his stuff out.

So will anyone else be joining Clint and I in the water?

I hope everyone is having a great and safe weekend!!!
