Reflected Oceanicity

seascapes, seascape photography, australian landscape photography

Okay, I’m just going to come out with it and say this is my favourite photo that I’ve taken in a long time.   It has everything that I strive to capture in my photos.   Its got a nice warming colour and strong water movement as well.  I had to wait for just the right moment and exposure to get those reflections in the water and to capture the wave exploding onto the reef.

Hopefully this photo will earn me Mr Flemming’s ‘King of the Waves’ tittle again.  I think it will as I’ve managed to capture my passion for the ocean in this photo.

I hope you guys all like it as well,

Thanks,

Jamie Paterson

Falling………

lancelin sand dunes night australian landscape photography

Okay I’m being a visual artist here rather than a landscape photographer.   When I took this shoot I wanted the lines in the Lancelin sand dunes to point up to the sky.   Now I managed to get a shot that achieved that effect but the more I looked at this photo the more I thought there was something more to it.   It finally came to me and I spun it upside down and then instantly it made me feel like I was falling off the face of the earth.

I’ll post the actual landscape photograph shortly but I really liked this photo and wanted to share it with you guys.

Thanks,

Jamie Paterson

Burns Beach Sunrise

burns beach, landscape photographer, seascape photographer,

Hi Guys,

This is a seascape photo I managed to grab a couple of weeks ago from Burns Beach its a place I’m starting to look at more closely as there are heaps of rock formations around.   Yes there is heaps to photography in Perth but I have to admit I’m getting restless and hanging out to head down south again to Fletcher territory to get some awesome shots.  Well off to try and get some more shots.  Let’s hope the breeze doesn’t pick up and blow all these great clouds away!

Thanks,

Jamie Paterson

Tranquil Reflections At Meelup Beach

meelup beach landscape seascape photography tips tranquilty

Hi Everyone,

I was fortunate enough to duck down south for the weekend and just chill out.   In between having lunch with some good friends on Saturday and Melissa and I having the most awesome dinner at the Food Farmacy I managed to catch this shot at Meelup Beach.   It was such a magnificient morning and I had the beach all to myself.  :-)   The colours in the water were absolutely amazing, when Meelup Beach has blue water, it has really blue water!   Its a landscape and seascape photographers dream.   Just think in another two months time this place is going to be plastered with people and almost impossible to photography no matter how early or late you turn up.

Camera Settings
Aperature – F22
ISO – 50
Shutter Speed – 5sec

What places do you guys normally get to shoot, that will be covered in the summer tourist crowd shortly?

Thanks for stopping by and commenting,

Tropical Waters

varanuswater1

Geez I was all set to have a relaxing weekend but with Merv ‘motivating’ me I’ve had to put up another photo.   This photo was taken after watching internationally famed seascape artist Larry Mitchell peering into the water, I stood next to him and saw this in front of me.  I absolutely loved the water in the shallows it makes a great effect and I was really happy with this photo.   I just goes to show you don’t have to hang out with photographers to learn more about photography.   The way Larry ‘saw’ water was amazing and I know Christian learnt from him as well.

I’m thinking that I might have to retire to a coral island somewhere and ‘study’ water for the rest of my life.    What do you guys think?  I’m not sure if I could keep up with the pressures of work of being a seascape photographer on a coral island. :-)

Keep Dreaming!

Thanks for stopping by everyone,

Jamie Paterson

Monte Bello Islands – What An Amazing Trip!

monte bello islands seascape landscape aerial photography

Hi Everyone,

I’ve just come back from an amazing trip to the Monte Bello Islands, Exmouth and Karratha with two internationally renowed artists.   Larry Mitchell is an artist who specialises in painting seascapes and is well known for his paintings of the Abrolhos Islands.   Of course most of you know landscape photographer Christian Fletchers work and he was the other person that I got to travel with so it was a dream come true.

We spent two day exploring the Monte Bello Islands and we saw so much wildlife and in all sorts of nooks and crannys.  The best part of the trip was watching how these guys view the surrounding area and what they pick up on.    Its amazing how they see the world in colours, textures and patterns.

Photo Information:

Taken from a BK117 helicopter at 1000ft.

Lens – 50mm F1.2

Aperture – F8

ISO – 400

Shutter – 1/3200sec

So what did everyone else get up to on the long weekend?   I see Mark and Merv have been wildflower chasing, has anyone else been up in the hills at all?
