Bunker Bay – Just Tinkering

bunker bay dunsborough yallingup australian landscapes seascapes

Hi Everyone,

Just me tinkering around with some textures.  I’ve been hanging out to try this sort of photoshop treatment for ages but I couldn’t find a site that had any decent textures to use.   Well thanks to Brent Pearson I’ve finally managed to find a site full of textures that I’m going to use to experiment on my Australian landscape and seascape photographs.   Obviously textures don’t suit every photo but its certainly fun to try something different.   Have any of you guys experimented with textures in your photos at all?   If you haven’t tried it but are curious and want to give it a go, check out Brent’s excellent tutorial on is blog.

On with the tinkering. 🙂

Comments are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Jamie Paterson

Rainy Day at Bunker Bay

bunker bay Dunsborough Cape Naturaliste australian landscapes seascapes

Hi Everyone,

It was great catching up with so many talented Perth Landscape and Seascape Photographers on Friday night.  You guys rock!   Thanks again to Mark Stoddard and Christian Fletcher for organising it.

This was a shot I that I managed to grab around three months ago now whilst I was spending quite a bit of time out at Bunker Bay.    As you can see I managed to narrowly avoid a stack of rain heading across the bay.   In fact it was taken the day before I got totally rained out when I headed for a shoot at Meelup Beach.

I just really liked this shot because I thought that the tree dangling over the water was pretty cool.   It really made me wonder why a tree would grow that way rather than just straight up in the air.  That is the great thing about Mother Nature I guess, she is always creating interesting things for us landscape and seascape photographers.

Now that Summer is here I can’t wait for those amazing sunsets to kick in.  What about everyone else?   You guys hanging out for those amazing summer sunsets as well?

Thanks for dropping in team,

Jamie Paterson

Bunker Bay Cranking Surf!!!

Well the weekend didn’t pan out as expected.   I tried to get some shots down at Canal Rocks, but more about that later.   Melissa and I woke up on Sunday morning and headed out for breakfast, I looked out the window and saw the surf at Bunker Bay was cranking so I grabbed my camera and headed down to the beach.   It was awesome to watch and the guys were going ballastic out there.   I was using a 2x Convertor on my 70-200 lens which I’m still not sure if I like or not.   To me this image is really soft, its not sharp which is what I’m expecting.   I’m going to trial a 100-400mm lens next time and compare the results.

Highlight of the weekend was catching up with Mr Fletcher for a coffee and having a great chat.
