Hi Everyone,
It was great catching up with so many talented Perth Landscape and Seascape Photographers on Friday night. You guys rock! Thanks again to Mark Stoddard and Christian Fletcher for organising it.
This was a shot I that I managed to grab around three months ago now whilst I was spending quite a bit of time out at Bunker Bay. As you can see I managed to narrowly avoid a stack of rain heading across the bay. In fact it was taken the day before I got totally rained out when I headed for a shoot at Meelup Beach.
I just really liked this shot because I thought that the tree dangling over the water was pretty cool. It really made me wonder why a tree would grow that way rather than just straight up in the air. That is the great thing about Mother Nature I guess, she is always creating interesting things for us landscape and seascape photographers.
Now that Summer is here I can’t wait for those amazing sunsets to kick in. What about everyone else? You guys hanging out for those amazing summer sunsets as well?
Thanks for dropping in team,
Jamie Paterson

Very nice Jamie. Was this a stitch? BTW, it was great to meet you on Friday night.
Hi Graham,
No this was a single image from my Canon 16-35mm F/2.8 USM II lens. Yes it was fantastic to meet you as well I enjoyed our conversation. 🙂
Jamie
Hi Jamie,
Great meeting you on Friday. I’m stuck behind the computer at the moment but just looked up and saw the most amazing deep pink afterglow from sunset. Hope someone out there caught it with their camera! Bring on summer!!
Sandra
Hi Sandra,
It was fantastic meeting you as well and I promise next time I’ll give the Yorke Peninsula more positive attention. 🙂 I checked out your website and you’ve got some great photos there. Thanks for commenting.
Jamie
I have shot this heaps of times, but I like yours the best.
Now that is a compliment. Thanks Christian. Much appreciated mate.
Jamie
i’m pondering whether the tree grew like that from /birth/ or if it fell over & contiuned growing that direction
the foreground looks so happy & inviting & the sky scares me away
curious, was it a cold day?
Hi Chloe,
Thanks for dropping by. I think it fell over and started to grow upwards. It was extremely cold that day, with the wind blowing straight off the ocean as well.
Jamie
Hi Jamie,
Nice pic mate. I have one at that exact location at 1100 at night! You can see the southern cross as well!
Great to catch up again on Friday night. See you soon on the next adventure!
Cheers,
Mark
Hi Mark,
It was a wicked night and the word on the street is that eveyone had a fantastic time. Yes I can’t wait for the next adventure. Have fun in PNG mate and I can’t wait to see the photos.
Jamie
Nice shot. Did you use a ND on the pic or is that really the clouds coming in? If they are the real McCoy man that would have poured 🙂
Hi Kheng,
Thank you for the comment. It was great meeting you on Friday night. 🙂 This was taken without an ND so that really is the clouds coming in with a bucket full or rain. I quite literally had to run to the car after taking this shot which is funny because running and I don’t normally mix.
Jamie
I do believe I have sat on that very tree and watched a school of salmon. Great shot champ!
Hi Graham,
Can’t believe you’re actually in the metro area! lol. Thanks for the comment mate. Your photos are really awesome. I love the photo of the 4WD on the farm and the motorbike.

I have memories of this view but with 2 small children climbing on the rocks. This is a nice brooding image reminiscent of winters down south. It was nice to meet you at the pizza night and really liked the video work that you showed us.
Hi Muzz,
Thanks for the comment! It was great putting a face to the name on Friday night. I’m glad you liked the photo as I really like this one. 🙂
Jamie
Hi Jamie,
A really grouse shot in a good location. I look forward to hopefully more examples!
Hi Rob,
Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I can’t wait to head back down there shortly and get some more photos.
Jamie
Onya Jamie…mate I am not back for long, but by goodness its great to sleep in a bed again!!!
Hey Graham,
I’m sure it would be. Nothing like a nice bed. Next time you’re back for a few weeks we should head up to Lancelin and Wedge to get some landscape shots.
Jamie
100% up for that mate…drop me an email and we will work something out.
Will do Graham. You can teach me a thing or two about capturing some crazy 4WD images!
Jamie
Very nice work Jamie ! Strong composition and what a spectacular tree – well done mate ! (-:
Hi Tony,
Thank you very much mate. I’m glad you like it. Its definitely one of my favourites. 🙂
Jamie
Really nice shot Jamie, I love the definition on the gnarled roots and the rocks. You have loads of other great photos on here, well done!
Lloyd
