Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Hi Crew,

Its been a tough week at work and on Friday afternoon I decided to head out for a shoot at late notice.  I wanted to shoot somewhere that was new but not too far from home.  I remember that Mr ‘Stirling Stephen Williams Ranges’ shot a jetty near my house so I decided to head over there quickly and fire off a few shots to see what I could come up with.  I was surprised that after living near the Canning River all my life I’d never seen this jetty.

Camera Settings:

Aperture – F22

ISO – 50

Shutter – 5secs

I hope you guys enjoy the photo.  It was certainly nice taking the photo and watching the sunset.  The only thing missing was a beer in my hand!!!

Thanks,

Jamie Paterson

Sweet shot mate….the weather has been excellent lately eh!

Had a cracker surf at Rotto on Saturday and then got a bucket of Whiting on the way home!

Thanks mate. Yes the weather has been awesome but we need more rain to get those streams and waterfalls flowing. Did you get good surf photos at all? Love surf photos. 🙂

sometimes it takes an out of towner to show you what’s on your doorstep hey 😉 tis a cool jetty (ruin) that’s for sure, nice shot here too man.
i can see both of us battling it out for position on the end of it some day when it’s a ripper sunset lol.

thanks for the mention too 🙂
i’ll have to dig up a few Stirling Ranges images to post now to match that title you’ve given me! lol

      Hi Stephen,

It was your find not mine so its only right to let people know you found it. Yes we’ll have to tackle the jetty together and this time I’ll have some beer with me as well.

That is a wicked surreal reflection, and the “jetty” makes it even more slightly otherworldly (my favourite word). Try and flip it horizontally, looks wicked 🙂

A bit of a bullseye composition here, but probably works alright with the reflection and strong leading lines.

      Hey Flemming,

Thanks for the comments mate. I will flip it horizontally and have a look. Perhaps a new genre of photography? Horizontally flipped landscapes?

Thumbs up from me Jamie, shame about the beer though

Jamie, with a perfect reflection like this it’s always fun to look at it flipped. Might not be a good image but still, heaps of fun as it so messes with the head (how crazy do I sound haha!)

Eh yes….flip vertical…that’s what I meant hehehe. Doh!!! I think I have been upside down and downside up for too many times in our world so I no longer recognise vertical from horizontal.

Flip vertical – totally messes with ones sense of perspective, wicked!

I ride around that section of river most mornings and evenings – many a time I’ve wished I had my camera, you get some of the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets around there.

I’m glad someone got to take the pictures, great shot Jamie 🙂

      Hey Damo,

Thanks for that mate. I used to row up to this area each morning and I have to agree with you, you get some amazing colours around there.

Do you live locally Jamie? I so rarely get to go out to take shots around here, really must get out more often.

I’m in Wilson, just off Fern Rd.
