Meelup Beach Is Out There

meeluprain

Hi Everyone,

I’ve just returned from a trip down south.  I was hoping to capture some awesome stormy, winter landscapes whilst I was down at Dunsborough / Yallingup but I was pretty much rained out all weekend.   This was my view from Meelup Beach this morning, at 6 degrees outside there was no way I was going to get wet.   Have to give a big hand to the people who were doing a personal training session in the carpark, talk about commitement.   All this rain is good for the dams but not photography!    Any weekend down there is still a good weekend though, Melissa and I managed to find a few nice spots to have dinner and have a few wines.

Last weekend I was driving around the hills and they were had so much green grass in the pastures it was a fantastic sight to see, get up there soon before the grass starts to die out.

What did everyone else photograph this weekend?

There has been a heap of rain down that way Jamie!

I was at True North Ashore a couple of Mondays ago and it was raining like that!

I did not venture out this weekend….thought I might wait for the Kimberley trip next week where it is nice and warm!!

    Cheers,

    Mark

You know what…so often we get caught up in trying to make a great photo that we forget to capture a memory, I really like this shot mate, it shows the why and when of where you were…and thats exactly what its all about! Its a keeper.

    Hi Graham,

I must admit that I wasn’t amused this morning when I turned up to see Meelup like this and disappointed that I couldn’t get a photo when I realised that a) people would still be interested to see what Meelup looked like this morning regardless and b) it was a record of the morning for me. 🙂

I like it. Feels like I am there, peering out the car window, waiting for a break in the weather. It looks pretty grey out there though.

      Hi Luke,

I appreciate the comment. I like the photo as well, its a Graeme says a memory shot and unfortunately the break never came! All the rain is good though, its so green down in Christian country at the moment.

I honestly love sitting in my car, listening to the rain on the roof of my car. Some of my best conversations have happened inside a vehicle! I agree with ecomuseimages, we’re so suffocated about getting the perfect shot and I like your photo, just as it is. 🙂

      Hi Katie,

Thanks for that. I drive around so much every week looking for new spots, maybe I should start up a blog with my car window views. hehe.

I like the effect of the water on the windscreen, and you can still make out enough of the beach to know that it’s a beach.

I spent the weekend in Albany – and had a lot of rain and hail down that way, with some patches of blue sky and sun in between the showers.

    you’re too modest jamie!

    Hi Martin,

Sounds like we shared the same weather, did you still manage to get any shots at all down there at all?

    Hi Chloe,

I kind of figured that it was moody day for you when you took it. I think a great photo is one that you manage to convey your emotions through.

Does anyone know of any good examples of emotion being displayed through photography? It would be awesome if you could point me in the direction of some.

Jamie, the aim of my visit wasn’t photography, so I didn’t get much time with the camera at all…however, I did manage to get some shots of the Albany port lights over Frenchman’s Bay (check my blog for a pic).
