Fremantle Harbour on a humid night

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been working Fremantle Harbour the past three evenings and I’m loving it.   This is a photo that I took last night, I though it was going to be a great sunset however it was a real fizzer unfortunately.   I was really pleased though with this dark and sultry mood.  I specifically placed the old rusty floats in the middle of the picture as I thought they looked really interesting.   Enjoy!

Thanks,

Jamie Paterson

    Cool colours i think.
But I would love to see it cropped along the bottom to remove the tree.
Was it a stitch cause that horizon looks a little funky to be honest?
When are we gonna go on another shoot mate?

    Hi Dylan,

Not sure what you mean by a funky horizon. I put this up on Facebook and Flick last night and got nothing but positive comments. 🙂 If you mean the sky itself is slightly darker on one side, that is how it truly was, it was really dark and overcast above the museum. I thought the tree was ‘kinda’ cool but on reflection I think you’re right and I’m going to remove it.

I’m not planning any shoots with anyone at the moment, having a newborn means I can duck out only on a moments notice. hehe. If Xavier is asleep then I get to quickly duck out for an hour. 🙂

When he settles we’ll get together for a shoot if that is cool.

    Hi Mel,

Thanks for that. 🙂 I agree with you and Dylan the green bush has to go.

I call the horizon funky cause about halfway across it looks like its level to the right and then dips a lot on the left?….

Yeah mate when ever you can plan for a shoot let me know. How ever far away that may be.

    Cheers

    Hi Dylan,

Gotcha. I think the horizon is straight but I think its a little misleading as the far dock is really cluttered and leads off into the background. Must admit I had to check a few times myself. 😉

Look forward to catching up soon as its been ages.

The colors great jamie and the detail is awesome from the smoke coming from the ship in dock to the wire runners on the rusted floats, very cool.

I would of liked to see it a little wider and maybe the museum and adjoining building a little darker to accent the rusted floats as the main draw in the frame, plus a little darker boarder to pull the eye into the center of the image.

interesting angle mate, seen that before but never got any shots. Just watch the burning in around the museum mate, I can see a bit of a halo around it. Good capture.
