A Touch of Australiana – (Flemming’s Fantasy)

grasstreesorange-copy

Hi Everyone,

I just love this shot, its so uniquely Australian, the red dirt, the grasstress everywhere and the vast distance could only mean that this photo was taken in Australia.    I felt a bit like Peter Lik in his helicopter when I was taking this shot, I was driving along at 110kmh and I just slammed on the brakes, hopped out of the car, ran across the road and started to shoot away!    I’m sure he would’ve been proud of me.   Has anyone been out and about and caught some of those amazing sunsets lately?

Thanks for checking out the blog,

Jamie Paterson

Looks like the country around Badgingarra or on the way up to Jurien maybe.

    Nice shot

I was a bit worried to see a post titled “Flemming’s Fantasy” in my Google Reader 😀 But love this shot 😀 You’re right, it’s very outback and an area that looks like it could be worked for many different compositions!

Where is this? I like it but the graduation in the sky is too dark and comes down a little too far for my liking.

    Hi Flemming,

Thanks for that. You are so correct, you could’ve shot down low, up high, done more of a stitch etc… Unfortunately I can’t spend too much time out of the car in locations like this because of my fair skin. LOL.

    Hi Tom,

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I’d have to agree with you, now that I’m seeing it on my work monitor. I will be investing in an external monitor for my laptop in the next few days and will have it fully calibrated.

    Thanks,

Yes, just so everyone knows, credit where credit is due. Neal from Spool Photography did help me out with something that I was struggling on in this photo. I was very appreciative, its so frustrating when you see something in your mind but can’t replicate it in your photo.

    A big thanks Neal!

fantastic shot Jamie ! I also love the scene – it’s also breathtaking… though I’m not entirely in love with the sky. I hope you took some more from this location/shoot! 🙂

    Where is this Jamie?

  13. jamiepatersonphotography February 17, 2009 at 6:31 am #

    Hi Tony,

I took stacks from this location at different angles and focusing on different POVs. Unfortunately the sky was really flat and featureless on this day. So I did the best I could with it.

Nice mate looks like it from my old country up near Gero??? Sorry been a bit quiet of late, new job etc loved all the sand dune shots as well, catch up on Saturday at Fletchies exhibition. I didn`t think the sunsets were all that good last weekend but then again I am really fussy.

Great shot, Jamie. Almost looks other-worldly 🙂 I have to agree with TP and say the sky could be brightened a touch, but apart from that this is top notch! Looking forward to seeing the shot you are getting ready for the weekend!

    Hi Beau,

Much appreciated. Yeah I managed to get a really moody shot of Perth last Friday Morning so I’ll put that up on the weekend sometime when I get a chance.

    Anyone heading out this weekend?

    Merv,

Its going to have to stay a trade secret for a little longer. I want to cover it again one more time first. Most of the people around here are awesome photographers so I need a little bit of a head start. 🙂
